Greening the Rubble

As I travelled west along Riccarton road this morning - with the gorgeous sunshine that lasted all day here behind me - I took the chance to stop in on this lovely public space that's been developed on the corner with Rotherham St.

The Greening the Rubble community project sprung up post-quake to create temporary gardens and public spaces in areas where buildings had been deolished. This site was once a jewellers but now is a funky area where people can meet and people watch.

Greening the Rubble's partner organisation - Gap Filler - then uses these spaces for temporary entertainment purposes. I'll hope to feature some more of their work soon...
