New Year's Eve and a Blip Anniversary

Before we came to Switzerland I checked the weather forecast and there was sunshine forecast every day for the next 10 days! However previous experience has taught us that in the mountains this can change overnight.

I have reached another blip anniversary - six years and 2190 blips - I never thought I would ever get here, I never planned to go on for so long, but now I can’t imagine not carrying on. I have met some lovely people along the way and the journey is still continuing so hopefully I get to meet many more. Thank you for all the support over the years.

Today Gavin and I did a walk in the non stop snow, slipping and sliding on the steeper descents (despite my non slip winter hiking boots) but it was good to get out into the fresh air and feel the soft snow on our faces. It is New Year’s Eve tonight, and we are celebrating by going to the same restaurant we have been to every year for the past 13 years. It’s always an excellent meal that finishes just before midnight when we go outside to see the village fireworks. This year there are no fireworks out of consideration to the animals (farm animals as well as pets), pollution, and the cost. I had planned to take a photo of the fireworks for my 6 year anniversary blip, but that was no longer an option. Instead I decided on this image which is my favourite view of the village - this was taken when the snow stopped and the visibility improved. I have added some extra images of earlier the day when we did our walk.

Wishing everyone good health, laughter and many happy days ahead in the new year.
