Dobble for the bells

It was a tense afternoon as Fred tackled the desserts we were bringing to our friends for New Year's Eve dinner. The first pastry base ended up in the food recycling with some choice words placed by the recipe in ink. Fred used the trusty Delia recipe instead. While that was happening, I headed to Iceland (the shop) and bought emergency cheesecake, just in case. Our Plan B dessert at the bakery had sold out. On my return, the air was less blue and the blueberry tart looked wonderful. We took the Iceland Plan B anyway, just in case.

We had a really wonderful evening at our friends' house, messing about with their happy two year old early evening, enjoying an amazing dinner (the tart was really lovely – thanks, Fred), and playing Dobble. After the fireworks on the telly, we watched Charlie Brooker's Bandersnatch where Fred and I chose the adventure. Si and Lindz had a much different viewing experience from when they chose the adventure a few days earlier. Interesting.
