Marsh Harriers #4

Managed to prise husband out of bed and we arrived at Burton Mere mid morning.  Bearded Tits have been seen on the site in the past few days so we were hopeful that they might make an appearance today but it was not to be. We don't have enough patience to stand around in the cold watching nothing but reeds....
Saw lots of other nice things including 4 different types of swan - Mute, Whooper, Bewick and Black, an Egyptian Goose and the other usual ducks and waders. They were all too far away for decent shots as it was a really grey day, so we headed to Parkgate for a warming lunch in the Boathouse and then an hour or so watching for raptors and owls across the marsh. There were a few people around so we managed to see and have identified far more than we would have done on our own. Our list now includes the 2 Marsh Harriers in my blip (sorry about the poor quality but it was very dark and they were quite a way away), a Peregrine falcon, a Hen Harrier, kestrel, buzzard and a VERY distant Short eared owl. I took exactly 13 shots today and all of them have ended up being deleted, but I had to use one of them for my blip before doing so.
A poor day for photography but we did manage to clock up 46 different species today which I think is quite good.
