New Year's Eve

After yesterday's failure to get anywhere near Craster we decided to take no chances today!
I set my alarm last night and we got up at the crack of sparrows this morning. It was still dark!!
I made a quick cup of tea for my travel mug and we were off. At 7.45am!!
The Little Misses were giddy to travel in their jim-jams and thought it was hilarious that Mummy and Daddy travelled in their jim-jams too!! Thank God we didn’t get pulled over!
When we got to the car park in Craster I was pleased to see that apart from another motorhome - either early birds like us or else illicit overnight campers! - the car park was empty. Whoop whoop!!
I had planned to have breakfast and a bit of a lounge about before heading out but I was so excited to get out and explore the village that I couldnt wait. Miss E and I set off for a walk leaving lazy Daddy and Miss L to eat chocolate cereal and biscuits.
What a beautiful little fishing village it is! And it was magical having it completely to ourselves.
Before heading back to the camper we checked out the menu at the Shoreline Cafe for lunch later.
We went back to get Mr K, Miss L and Archie and then we set off on the lovely walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. It was stunning! The Little Misses loved scrambling on the rocks all the way while boring mummy and daddy walked on the grass!
We explored the castle, drank hot chocolate and dunked chocolate biscuits, bought a fridge magnet and then set off back to the village.
Our late lunch at the Shoreline Cafe was delicious. Amazing smoked haddock chowder, toasties, crab sandwiches, coffee and loads of cake. Yummy!!!
Eventually we dragged ourselves away and back to the camper as it was getting dark.
Back at the campsite we had more bread and cheese - it would appear we have a never-ending supply!
Then it was Harry Potter on the laptop - the end of the Philospher's Stone and the first half of the Chamber of Secrets before it was time to drink Baileys and count down to Midnight. I could hardly keep my eyes open by then so it was a pretty perfunctory Happy New Year, fifteen minutes of fireworks - both on the laptop and in the sky in all directions around us, then sleep.
What a great way to end the year and what adventures ahead!!
