Family

This is us on the beach at Beadnell Bay this morning.
Right before we got swamped by a pesky wave!!
After our late night last night seeing in the new year (anything past ten o'clock is late to me when we're camping!!) we had a bit of a lie in before packing up to set off on the next bit of our adventure.
First of all we only drove about 100 yards to the car park on the beach. I booked the campsite because I wanted to walk on this beach on New Year's Day.
I'm doing the Walk1000Miles challenge this year and I've been itching to make a start!!
The beach was glorious. See extras! Miss L sensibly stayed out of the freezing North Sea but Miss E and Archie had no such sense and were soon completely soaked.
Then I was soaked after we got swamped by incoming waves - and Miss E was in agony from where I'd trampled over her in my efforts to get away from the water.
So that was the end of our New Year walk!!!!!!
Onwards!
First of all we headed up the coast to Lindisfarne. The causeway wasn't open when we got there so we joined the line of waiting cars. Some people, far more intrepid/stupid than us were driving through the water but we waited until the causeway was more or less clear and off we went.
Oh my goodness it was exciting - like driving on the sea!!!!!! See extras. It was fabulous!!!!!!
We didn't stay on the island for long - like The Littlest Hobo (who we introduced the Little Misses to this morning on YouTube. They loved it and watched about four episodes in a row!!!!) we had to keep moving on!
The Little Misses were giddy to cross the border into Scotland! We stopped in Kelso for a quick Sainsbury's stop and then went back into England the next stop on our tour - Hadrian's Wall. I'd called to book a night at a campsite which the woman said was fine as long as we got there before dark. I had to laugh as we stopped at the border (to take selfies of us in England and the Little Misses still in Scotland. Funniest thing ever apparently!!!!!!) in near darkness and were still over an hour away. Whoops!
We got there eventually and were soon fed - Scottish pork pies, coleslaw and more bead and cheese; Miss E had planned our itinerary for tomorrow (see extras) and we were tucked up in our cosy beds watching The Littlest Hobo or Killing Eve
2019 has got off to a pretty good start!
