Happy New Year!

One of my favourite Blips of the Little Misses is their last bath of 2012. That doesn't seem five minutes ago but the evidence is irrefutable - my babies are growing up!
We had a fabulous time this afternoon and evening at Waddesdon. We're out of the habit of going for days out and, after a week of doing nothing but sitting around stuffing our faces, I was determined to start the year off with a bit of fresh air.
Our National Trust cards needed to be dusted off - we're just not using them since we got Archie!
A search of Blip revealed that surprisingly we haven't been to Waddesdon for almost exactly two years when we last went to see the Christmas lights. We used to go almost every week. How can two years have gone by?!
We got there at about 4pm and I was so excited to be back!!
As were the Little Misses - there was lots of excited squeals as they recognised things and remembered everything they used to do.
We went to the adventure playground first so they could have a play before got completely dark. Then it got completely dark and they carried on playing anyway!!
It was magical - the lights in the trees, the woodland walk all lit with fairy lights and lanterns, the sense of adventure and danger of climbing and swinging and seesawing in the dark.
We eventually got down to the Stables and sat outside on the sheepskin rugs. Eating ice cream. As you do on New Year's Day!! Mine was a delicious Bailey's one. Mmmmmm!!!!
Then we headed back up to the house for the light and sound display. It was amazing!!  It's quite hard to explain but it involved giant projections of objects from the house and magical creatures and snow and flowers and very loud music...... It was wonderful! There are some pictures here which are far better than anything I managed!!
As usual we were amongst the last to leave. We were all agreed it had been a fabulous day. What a great start to 2018!!
We packed the Little Misses off to bed and settled down to The Crown and all the leftovers, treats, goodies and snacks which need to be eaten tonight so healthy eating can commence tomorrow.
