A Flaming Winter Sky

Dear Diary,

Winter in Maine can be harsh but it has much with which to redeem itself, like flaming sunrises and sunsets.  Maybe it is the cold air temperatures or the contrast with all the white but at times they look like a raging fire in the sky.  It can look very surreal at times.

We are back in the freezer now with sub-zero nights and days that struggle to get into the 20'sF.  It is mid-January after all.  There will be no melting I'm afraid and the trees will hold the snow for awhile.  My driveway is a skating rink!  But the one thing you can say of Maine winters is they make one appreciate the spring so much more!
