Caen Hill (Wednesday 9th January 2019)

My first check in at the top of the locks in 2019, and straight away I found the resident pair at the Moorings near the café. While I was there a member of the CRT staff pulled up on his quad bike and fed them some grain (see Extra). I also saw a heron on a pontoon. I suppose the annual swan nest building isn't far away now.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Lulu - Watch That Man (recorded July 1973, Château d'Hérouville, Hérouville)
While David Bowie was recording his Pin Ups album of covers, with himself and Mick Ronson producing, he got his girlfriend in to record a couple of his songs, including Watch That Man. It appeared in January 1974 on the B-side of The Man Who Sold The World, though it is by far the better track. Bowie's own version had been the opening track on Aladdin Sane earlier in the year.
The band included Bowie himself on guitar, sax and backing vocals, Mick Ronson (guitar), Trevor Bolder (bass), Mike Garson on piano and Aynsley Dunbar (drums).
