Life through the lens...

Changing times.

As a girl, back in the 1950’s I can remember going into this building and buying half a pound of butter, cut from a huge slab. Then giving my grandma’s co op number. She always looked forward to receiving the “ divi” at the end of the year.

Built in 1887 it has seen many changes.
It closed altogether when the new supermarkets took over, and became a carpet warehouse.

However it did reopen as a Co Op a few years ago, and then closed again when the shop moved to a brand new building in the village.

It remained empty until last year when work began to replace the roof, clean the outside, and pull the inside to bits.
Lots of speculation as to what it might be, but now the signs have gone up, and as you can see our village is going to have a “posh” new restaurant!
Watch this space!

An early blip today as tonight it is our first wine club meeting of 2019.
I think we are in for a great evening as one of our own members, who is a representative of a well known wine wholesalers, is presenting the wines.
Wines from some of the new emerging vineyards in Australia.
With a name like, Tomfoolery, and a Shriaz wine called “ The Artful Dodger” we should be in for a fun evening!
