If you can't beat them...

Skimmia

11 Bags!  I spent all morning gathering leaves up at the Lodge.  They were in drifts a foot (30 cm) to 18 inches (45 cm) thick.  There were all sorts:  Beech, Scarlet Oak, English Oak, Sweet Chestnut were the most common.  I began with the garden vac and ended up scooping them up by hand as being faster than continually emptying the vac.

While working among the shrubs I spotted the flowers on this Skimmia.  I think it is a variety of Skimmia japonica but as it was donated from "The Mate's" over grown bed I can't be sure.

Bag disposal was 3 to Kanyl for the making of leaf mold and 8 into the garden waste recycling skip at the local tip recycling centre.  As if 11 weren't enough there are more to come, I have yet to complete the job.
