A Little Bit of Culture...

It was our neighbour Bob's funeral today and there was a good turnout of villagers to support his family.

Afterwards, we drove the short distance to Saltaire for lunch and to expose the Three Amigos to a bit of culture at Salt's Mill.  Saltaire is a model village (and now a World Heritage Site), built by mill owner and philanthropist Sir Titus Salt in 1853 to house his workers.  Cloth production ceased in the mid-1980s, at which point the mill was purchased by Jonathan Silver who turned it in to a centre for commerce and culture.  It is now home to several businesses and permanently displays the works of David Hockney, who was a close friend of Silver's.

Our tour began with 'The Arrival of Spring' exhibition.  I love these huge, open mill halls and think them the perfect space for displaying art.  The Three Amigos were a bit taken aback initially with the size of the room but then there were lots of pictures of trees for them to admire, and we know how much dogs like trees!

Trigger was more interested in the chap on security from whom we had asked permission to photograph, probably because he had been very flattering of the Amigos' big brothers, shown on my phone.

After this gallery we had further photo shoots around the Mill and then the guys got to climb on one of the lions on Victoria Road in the village.
