Still life

Last year, a group of people in Cumbernauld Village started to document the gravestones in the kirkyard at Cumbernauld Old Parish Church. They were concerned by the poor state of many of the gravestones and engaged the help of archaeologists from Scotland's Urban Past to initially record them with a view to later having these records placed online and in the public domain.

We had another recording session this morning, photographing each stone from different angles, and got another dozen or so recorded on file. This will be a long-term project!

After we finished, I took a few more general photos of the kirkyard and was delighted to see quite a few snowdrops making their appearance. There is still life in the old graveyard yet!
