Silver Birch

We weren't planning to do anything special today, but the brilliant sunshine and clear skies tempted us out.  We visited Anglesey Abbey in Cambridgeshire.

Not surprisingly, lots of other people had also been tempted out by the weather, but we still had a very pleasant stroll around the gardens, which included this rather lovely copse of silver birch trees, shining in the sunlight.  The mill (Lode Mill) was also worth seeing, but probably better when there are fewer visitors as access to the various floors is via a narrow, steep staircase which many people seemed to have difficulty negotiating.

Finally we toured the house, before heading to the typical National Trust cafe for some refreshment.

Overall, a good day out (and I still had time in the late afternoon/early evening to mount all the new photographs I had printed).
