Wound up in Wexford

Boulders

W has had fun today playing with a little digger, lifting and moving boulders.  We were really fortunate with the weather, after the cold and the rain of earlier in the week, today was warmer, and even sunny at times.

After the boulders were delivered, we had managed with levers and brute force to bring 2 of them inside the garden gate.  The other two we moved to one side, so that we could get both cars out of the garage.

The main blip is the second stone that we brought in from the drive.  W did manage to actually pick up the previous one and this one, into the bucket - the limitation being the size of the boulders (one company had suggested that the maximum weight the digger would lift was about 100kg, and we reckon even the smallest of the boulders was heavier than this) but also the "skill" of the operator.  He then had to manoeuvre the digger plus load through that very narrow gateway - it is barely wider than the machine, as you can see from the first extra.

The largest of the stones was absolutely too large to be picked up, and W pushed it into place and then levered it upright  You can see the final result, including the mess we've made of the lawn, in the second extra, and a close up view in the third extra.  They don't look very natural at the moment, but will look better once they've been rained on and cleaned, and the area around has been landscaped.

All in all, we're quite pleased with the results.  But there's a lot of work to do now on the lawn to make it good!
