Patina

Bit of a cheap two for one blip, since this is taken for the homework challenge at my fortnightly photo group; the theme this time being patina.

It's of a bronze coal scuttle and pan, which has no other use in this house than to be a planter in the greenhouse. It might be nice to have an open fire, but we sadly have no chimney, and in any case the government seems likely to end wood burners in the near future.

Not an easy thing to find, decent patina. It's not the same thing as rust, although of course both are indications of oxidisation. But the nice green verdigris comes generally only on copper, brass and bronze.

A wet day, filled with housework and gardening, and finished off with a couple of extraordinary gins; one raspberry and one ginger and rhubarb, and each treated with a large slab of grapefruit.

And so to bed...
