Overlooking the station

Our last day in Tampere for now. We hung around the AirBnB for a while packing, tidying up, and doing a bit of work, before moving our stuff to the university around lunchtime. I then had an excellent afternoon in my office knocking some sense into a couple of texts. Around 5pm we decamped to the Moro Skybar for one of their overpriced "gin and tonics with a view". It's funky to watch the trains going in and out of the station. All of them have been running quite late this week with the snow. Our own train, scheduled for 7pm and coming from much further north, was about 20 minutes late. However, it didn't affect our arrival time into the airport much as we literally caught a connection as soon as we arrived in Tikkurila.

We still had a bit of time to while away in Tampere station before our train arrived, so we popped into the same station cafe as we visited last time we were here. What I didn't mention on my blip that day was that Mr A lost his glasses, and didn't know where they might have been mislaid. We tried the cafe, the taxi company and the apart-hotel business, but to no avail. So when he got back, he had a new pair made. Lo and behold, when we went in the cafe, the same server was working behind the counter, and she recognised us and presented Mr A with his glasses. They had obviously fallen off his shirt, where he normally keeps them when not on his nose, and been kicked under the counter. She found them when she had to move the counter to retrieve something else that dropped. What a nice and helpful woman! he gave him a free coffee too.

Anyway, once at the airport, straight out, along to the airport hotel, check in and straight to bed. A good option for an early flight.
