Snowy Constable?

Mr PB wondered if this snowy bucolic scene was a bit like a Constable painting; looking at it now I'm thinking Breughel's Hunters in the Snow - minus the hunters. There are a few sheep looking chilly under the trees in centre picture, but apart from that an the odd car scooshing slushily up the Glen Massan road there was no other sign of life.

It's a pity snow makes life so difficult, because it's absolutely lovely to look at. Right now, at 10.20pm, we're just in from choir practice. As we hold the practices in the hall of the big church I'm always including in photos of hills/rainbows etc from my window, we walk back, across the little park and along the road. Tonight it was utterly silent; the snow lay white and largely undisturbed on pavements and grass, though the road glistened dark and wet. It was lovely - but there were ominous sparkles in the snow and at the edges of the road, and if that lot freezes tonight life will get a lot more interesting tomorrow!

But the messages are pinging in from choir members who live in Strachur (seven miles away along the loch side road), so at least that's us all home safely. Now I can stop feeling like a mother hen ...
