Mallards on a log

Sunday
We actually had church this morning - the last two weeks having been canceled due to snow and bad road conditions! We sang the same anthem we would have sung the last two weeks - a lovely song called Through the window, and is sort of an unspoken discourse between a child playing outside and her parents praying inside. The solo part (the child) was to have been sung by a young girl in the congregation who has a very good voice. She was all set to sing the first week. The second week she was originally supposed to be out of town with her family, but then that got cancelled so she was free to sing ... then the service was cancelled again. She was available this week, then she came down with flu at the last minute! Such a shame! However, our soprano Choral scholar came to the rescue. After lunch we went walking at Winton Woods, where these three mallards posed for me, though two of them were rather unobliging, and facing the wrong way!
