River Silhouette

A slightly less energetic day today as we were travelling for a few hours heading back towards Kuala Lumpur. We are now staying overnight at Kuala Selangor ready for a short journey to KL in the morning. We had hoped to get a train down or drive to Singapore but complexities at the border between Malaya and Singapore meant flying was the only realistic option. We'll be there for a couple of days before flying home.

Today we stopped at Teluk Intan to see a leaning tower, more a bit on the slant than leaning. It was built as a water tower and has a huge tank four floors up to act as a reserve water supply in times of drought; now no longer necessary.

We paused at a bridge to stretch the legs and found a few interesting photos. I grabbed this one as I noticed the scooters silhouetted and a boat passing through in the background.

Later on, we took a boat ride on the river (not sure if it is the same one) to see the fireflies in the mangroves.  Magic with all those twinkling lights. The extra is a gorgeous monkey, one of many we saw at Bukit Malawati - the site of an old fort. Not in captivity though, completely free to roam.
