Sledging

It wa# an untimely start with James coming at at 6.30 to say his howling belly needed breakfast. After getting to bed after 1am I wasn’t keen to get up, but his mum deserved a long sleep, so I did the necessary. Both boys had a bowl of muesli, yogurt, an apple and toast. They like toast, just toast, nothing on it. Strange creatures.

Then Thomas made up some Top Trump cards about animals while James played with the pens. The snow was too tempting though so when #2 daughter got up she was off out too. This is her whizzing down the field with James, when he agreed to let her have a go on “his” sledge.

In the afternoon we went over the valley to Phil’s 70th birthday party. #3 daughter and her crew arrived too. They both like Phil - when they were teenagers they’d call on New Year’s Day and get a glass of pink champagne, so this was repeated today.

All 4 grandchildren came back to our house to have snowball fights. James had a melt down. He’d not eaten his soup at lunch time. When he calmed down they all had more muesli and fruit. He and Thomas were asleep in the car by the time they left the village. Ella spend ages making a book and writing a story about fairies in an enchanted land.

An early, alcohol-free, night for us!
