Gong Xi Fa Cai

Attempts to get good, posed photos of the girls in the CNY dresses failed so this is probably the best.

Started the day with very loud firecrackers from outside the Verve. This morning was CNY breakfast at Han's house in Cheras. We were supposed to be there for 10. We left at 9.50 but luckily with CNY traffic we were there in 20 minutes.

There was vegetarian food and then while the family communed G, A and I were trying to be interested in the equivalent of BBC Scotland's Hogmanay programme, but in Chinese. Happy year of the pig (or boar, to confuse the Muslims?).

I spent 4 hours by the pool, swimming and sunbathing. Another granny, who I first met 4 and a half years ago, is also in here. Good to catch up again. Maisie is 3 months older than Olivia.

And tonight we have Jess visiting, champagne to celebrate my stopping work, duck with Vietnamese rolls and Christmas cake.
