It's a very slow thaw on the loch!

After some shopping and filling up with petrol I made a very quick visit to the Heritage Park to check on the state of the ice.

The thaw is very gradual with a thin film of water on top of what still looks like solid ice. The swans were doing their best as a couple of ice breakers and where the ice was thinner at the edge the birds were quite successful.

The gulls are not interested in ice breaking .... they are happy to stand for quite a considerable time!

At the stony end of the loch you can see the ice which is gradually breaking up and the layer f very cold water.
