Corridor weekend

We will all know certain bits of the hospital very well by the time we have finished.

It was much quieter today up on the higher floors of the building.  Car Park was conveniently quiet too.  I thought this little sofa was rather minimalistically attractive in the vast expanse of long straight corridor.

Mom was doing well today.  Amidst the confusion we do have some very special times. I had bought her a Cadbury's Cream Egg chocolate dessert which went down well.  Then we shared grapes and satsumas, followed by chocolate buttons and orange squash.  Very Enid Blyton don't you think!  Then we played cards while Dad watched the rugby.  We are all becoming very institutionalised and chatty with the one patient who talks and the other visitors.  There was a very nice part time nurse on the ward today - older - cleaned things, tidied up, offered to make Mom a milk shake later...  There is always a nurse in that ward to look after the old ladies who might fall out of their beds...  Some of the other nurses we have seen just sit at a table...  I don't think they are qualified nurses who seem very bored with their task.  Shame.  Mom wanted to come home with us again today.  We just have to get up and go...

Dad got up reasonably early today, went to get his Sunday paper and then went to Church.  The vicar was there and told him that he should come back on Sunday if he could make it then.  He paid for his paper with his Sunday Times Voucher and didn't understand what the assistant was saying.  I had to phone them to tell them that he would pay for it when he went to collect his Sunday Times...

i am going to try to sort out some volunteers to drive him to the hospital while we are away.  Big grandson can do it three times.  Vicar can do it once.  Hopefully some more volunteers from Church tomorrow.  Apart from that, a taxi is £8.50 each way.  I thought it might be a lot more expensive than that.

Now, an important question for you experienced travellers.  We have to travel with soft sided bags on our next holiday as we travel in safari vehicles with our luggage.  Do you think it would be better to travel with one full bag or two half full bags?
