Stepping Stones.

While Mrs TD was at work, I took myself down to Killburn woods. When we first moved to Roslin, the burn was easily crossed here with the stone steps on the far side going right down to the water’s edge and then some stepping stones across the water and about 50 yards down stream was a stone bridge. In the intervening period, the bank has been eroded and undercut, and stones have disappeared. Twenty years or so ago, a storm took the bridge away and recruits from Glencourse built a wooden replacement, Then a few years ago, one of the old stone pillars that supported it were moved a few feet by storm water making the bridge unusable, the same torrent could have shifted some of the slabs from this ford.
