Bark Snakes

The trunks of ancient trees are endlessly fascinating. Some of the big ones in Tatton Park are 400 or so years old, with lots of decay. Such old trees are great for wildlife. Just don't walk under them on a very windy day.

I was trying to work out what tree species this one was. No idea. I will have to have another look when the leaves emerge.
