Linlithgow

This is a very old town, 20 miles from Edinburgh on the Glasgow to Edinburgh rail link. This photo was taken through the train window as it slowed down before the station. In the right top corner are the ruins of Linlithgow Palace - one of the principal residences of Scotland's kings in the 15th and 16th centuries. In the foreground behind the poplars is the former police station - now up for sale - and probably will be converted into some desirable residences before long!. A 'Dixon of Dock Green' lamp is visible at the right lower corner. The photo lent itself to some painterly treatment.
