Local History

On my way to the hairdressers this morning I drove through Walsall Wood, on a road I have driven down many times.  Never noticed these metal sculptures before.  so on the way back I stopped to look at them.  They are on a busy corner, so the only way I could get a shot of all of them was to stand in the middle of the road - not even for blip. :-))  They are life size and each one has it's own story I have added another group in extras.  I like the story told by the woman with two children and a dog called Scruff,  it tells of the time when there was a fancy dress parade when she was a child but she went home crying because she had no costume.  So her Dad ran down to where the hens were kept, grabbed some clean straw, put some in the neck of her jumper and some up the legs of her trousers, pushed her into the line and said she had come as a scarecrow.  Resourceful in those days
The only information I can find is that it is an ongoing public art project being created by a sculptor called Luke Perry..I will see what more I can find out.  I wondered if there was a mention in the book that fellow blipper Hildasrose is following for her series on public sculptures, must ask her..  Will go back and take more photos.
Thank you so much for visiting my journal and for your kind comments. I am way behind as usual, but will endeavour to catch up.
