Deep Midwinter

Snow all night and all day was good and bad. Good I could at last walk on the fresh snow without fear of slipping, bad in that it made finding compositions quite hard. Everything looks very pretty, but it's so complex and confusing trying to identify a subject.

I walked down the lane taking shots left and right without much success. Eventually this tree really stood out because the snow on its dark branches was so brilliant and it was also fairly isolated, even though not separated from its background.

The foreground grasses add a touch of colour to the scene.
