The lean to

Another derelict Sunday, another image from Gill's orchard ...

DPHT open day so been chatting with families visiting the centre, informing them of the work done by the charity, some of the adoptees came to visit their ponies,  & some of the youngsters helped with grooming the ponies. Father Xmas popped in as well, I didnt recognise him in his civvies. We briefly discussed his need to get some longer trousers before his coming December duties. Oh yes! The sun came out, which always people happy. Members of the Green Willow clog dancing group came along to present a cheque for £200 that they had raised for the charity, then entertained us all with one of their dances. Visitors left at 3pm, then a delivery of 6 very spooked, frisky yearlings brought in from a farm on the moor were unloaded, they will be handled over the next 3  days to get them used to human interaction.

Stopped of at our local to meet for a half of cider with hubby, got chatting to the barman who it transpired played football with my younger brother, who died with Hodgkin's Lymphoma when he was 29. I wondered where, & what he would be doing now if he had won his battle.

Yummy roast duck, Hasselback potatoes, roast parsnips, & steamed veggies with a citrus tropical sauce for dinner tonight ... I was given 2 small pots of jams that came from Thailand, papaya, the other mango & passionfruit, not that great but did'nt want  to waste them so they went into the roasting pan with the meat juices, a slosh of orange & mango fruit juice, plus a dollop of my homemade marmalade to sharpen it up .. Perfect!
