Bridge 146

This is bridge 146, Pickering's Bridge, close to the end of the Shropshire Union Canal where it runs through the industrial area on the edge of Ellesmere Port. On the far side of the bridge there is an old quay which is no longer used. You can also see some pipework running under the bridge to reinforce the industrial setting.

I think this bridge was probably built to support the industry alongside the Manchester Ship Canal (away to the left) and it looks like it has been reinforced at some point. I much prefer this to the ones either side Bridge 145a and Bridge 146a.
