The Oxford Academy 1794 to 1930

Well, here's a little more history today. It was too cloudy, cold and rainy with snow flurries for me to do more outside.
The building at the end of the block where we have already been to see the Oxford Public library, and the Indian Fort site marker is he 1930 building of the Oxford Academy.
Although it was founded in 1794 just 6 years after New York became a state of the United States and Oxford organized to become a town, the location of the original Oxford Academy with all grades was located in what is now a pretty little park nearby.
The current Oxford Academy pictured here houses the middle school. The rest of the Oxford Academy holds the primary grades and the high school in a no-so-photogenic building across the river.
The children are all in school today and so the street is quite.
