Abbey crocuses

Unfortunately our supply of wine, brought back from France last year is almost finished.
We had been sent two vouchers from Majestic Wines, one of which finished today, so that was our first port of call this morning.
Well £20 is not to be sneezed at!

Then decided to visit Kirkstall Abbey on the way home to see the crocuses.
A road I have not driven on before, and got into a bus lane by mistake. Now waiting for the brown envelope containing my fine!

We forgot it was Half Term, and the car park was almost full. Just managed to get the last spot.

The flowers were lovely, but it was quite dull, and so they weren’t open.
Not good for photography either.
Still we enjoyed looking round.

The Abbey is over 860 years old. One of Britain’s best preserved Cistercian abbeys.
I always remember the stone looking very black. Caused by all the pollution from the mills and factories of Leeds.
Today it looked much cleaner.
We will be visiting again soon with the walking club.Hope we might get some sun that day.
( Added a couple of extras too)
