Remember the telegram?

I have never received a telegram but M tells me he got one in 1962 to say he had won a scholarship.
 
Today the telegram has been superseded by text.
Now the question is: what next? Thought transfer?
 
Our local Post Office in Bridge of Allan was originally the Telegram office too.
And there are plans afoot to make it a listed historic building.
