Settle Carlisle Thunderer II

Not having blipped a steam train for what seems like months, I decided to try for a shot of today's "Settle Carlisle Thunderer II".  Kanyl was up for the Challenge as well so off we went.  I had carefully selected a spot using the OS map and Google Street view.  Arriving we found the road I wanted closed.

The weather wasn't good but we searched for another suitable view point with time running out.   We finally got as near as we could and chose a gap in the hedge.  We were only just in position when we heard the train approaching.

The Locomotive is No 48151 built in 1942 and being in various parts of the country until withdrawn from service in 1968.  In 1995 it was loaned out to do quarry work and in 2000 hauled a loaded freight train along this line.
