Prunus Spinosa

Morning meeting at the Peace Centre in Warrington (extra), the first time I have been there. It’s a strange building inside, now purposed as a youth centre amongst other things. A very sad reminder of The Troubles in Northern Ireland, and their direct impact on ordinary places in England. Tim Parry and Jonathan Ball still remembered 26 years after the IRA bomb of 1993. The current debate about “the backstop”, which is driving everyone mad, is not an esoteric one.

The first flush of white is colouring the hedgerows. The blackthorn is in flower. There will be sloes this autumn.
