Wound up in Wexford

Aubretia

Last summer, W spent some time creating little holes in the wall to plant up some aubretia.  We did get some flowers, but they didn't thrive, and after the really dry summer, the little plants were looking decidedly sorry for themselves.  We thought we might have to try again this year.

But in fact, just before we went off to South Africa, I noticed that the plants had recovered and were growing well.  And on our return, it's lovely to see the flowers.  They are giving the effect I was after, scattered along the wall.  This year, I need to look out for other plants to introduce to the wall.
