Clear Skies and Wind! Cervinia Day 2

When we emerged from our hotel this morning it was windy and once at the ski lift info we could see that virtually all lifts were closed. At one stage only one lift, a cable car, was still running and we waited 90 minutes in a queue before finally getting up the mountain to this restaurant. That's the Matterhorn in the background, it's peak hidden in the cloud.  A few hardy Swedes are trying to sit in the sun in this picture but us two hardy Swedes decided to sit indoors!
We were just deciding to give up, go down, and read a good book when the lift behind this building started running. All over the mountain lifts were suddenly in motion. I suppose the wind must have dropped a little but I can't say I noticed any difference.
We spent the rest of the day skiing on lovely cold snow with hardly any people around and no queues at all. We made to the top of the resort and the Swiss/Italian border (see extra). The wind continued to howl until mid-afternoon when it quietened down a little.  So, another wonderful day in Cervinia. It's good to get a reward for persevering through the morning!
