The big old maple tree in our front yard, probably a Silver Maple, is currently blooming. There's nothing spectacular about the blooms - they are tiny and red - but when you look at the woods in general from a distance you can see all the maples are now showing a lovely light red hazy halo. It's one of the earliest signs of spring.
Anyhoo - the ground out in front of the house is littered with fallen blossoms. This is one of the little fallen clusters. And they are really very tiny.
