Black Country Living Museum

Today, we continued our Victorian museum trip with the Black Country Living Museum.  We had a great day wandering around and hearing stories from the various re-enactors.  The main blip is from a demonstration of how chains are made.  Extras are of the chemist in the main street (which probably featured in peaky blinders) and the spares in the radio repair shop.

Following advice from one of the people talking about mining, we booked for a 45 minute canal boat trip through some caverns that were originally created when mining limestone.  This is the first time I've sat on a canal boat, in a cave, watching a geology film on a big screen!

The museum is still on winter opening hours and so it closed at 4pm.  We decided to drive through to a nature reserve on our way to our next hotel, where we had a short walk (see last extra) and then sat in a bird hide.

Dinner was another half an hour away before we drove up the M6 to our next stop.
