Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Poles and Trees

What an eventful day!  Picked up the tree guy from Galiano this morning..he assessed our storm damage,  said it was worse than he thot, and went to work all day mostly getting trees limbs etc to the ground so one could see over it all.  Big difference.  Can see the water.  And also walk around the whole trail without climbing trees.  He'll be back with help for the bigger scary stuff including one huge fir that is vertically cracked, I swear, wider, every time I look at it.
Soon after he started work we hear the BC Hydro machines and there they were with our new cedar replacement pole to go in the back yard.  Well this was pretty fascinating to see how that got put in...it was no small matter to even get the pole here (on a barge, then by back hoe a roundabout way  (see extra for it's arriving past the studio. )  I did a lot of standing and photographing today which made me tired. :-)  ..H did a lot of work with the tree guy...Might have to do a flickr set later of the pole placement, when I have faster internet...  the old pine one just cracked off, the pole was climbed to get the swedish flagand the bathouse off (NO bats..I guess we'll find a different spot for it next!) and unhook the wires, and the machine operator was fantastic to pick up that pole and guide not to the hole on the hill he dug.   They'll be back in the morning to hook the wires up (the power is on now however) and replace the last one on the island up our power line...so more opportunity for more photos tomorrow.
Whew.  Had to record something of each event. Not our usual quiet day.  Progress!!
