A day in the life

I took a trip to Lund, my old home town in Skåne in the southernmost part of Sweden, to visit some old friends and to listen to a concert . The concert took place in Lunds most well known hotel, The Grand Hotel, opened in 1899. The concert is one small part of the hotels 130 year anniversary celebrations.

The ensemble, called "Mare Balticum", The Baltic Sea, is a professional seven piece ensemble specialised in early music and playing authentic instruments, for this occasion reinforced by one of Swedens most well known actors, Sven Wollter. The ensemble is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year and this concert is part of a celebration tour. It was a brilliant performance. Mixing music and the spoken word is a very effective concept when performed like this. The music spanned from 1200 to 1650, with a single contemporary piece, the texts were mostly from 1800 till today with a Shakespeare monologue thrown in and even a rap put to a renaissance  piece of music. No photography allowed during the concert so todays Blip shows the staircase in Grand Hotel leading up to the concert hall.

I'm stying in Lund a couple of days, so nice to be back and to connect with my roots again. One future scenario is to move back here after my contract with the house I'm renting presently is running out next year. Especially in this  time of year, it's a tempting plan.
