Strathlachlan Kirk

Some years before Cathleen and I came to live in Glendaruel we spent a night with friends who had a house in the village of Newton by Loch Fyne.

Graham, who was an HMI who worked with me when I ran Network Scotland, was married to someone from the village and it was her family house that they used for weekends and holidays.

He died very suddenly and very young and is commemorated in the graveyard at Kilmorie , just along the road from this kirk, which he took us to see when we were visiting.

I was past it again today and was struck by how handsome a building it is and by the fact that ,unlike so many rural churches, it is also still in use.
