Quod oculus meus videt

Lunchtime Walk

I had an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar this morning.  Frustratingly my MacBook Pro had started exhibiting problems just before I was due to visit the Lakes and a call to their support was unable to resolve the issue.  On my return I called them again but despite best endeavours they needed to physically inspect the laptop to diagnose the problems.  Well the inspection took place and the estimate for repairs was an eye watering £800+.  I said I'd have to think about it!

My thoughts were still buzzing around my brain afterwards, but I'd also wanted to visit East Side, an area that will soon be dominated by the new Curzon Street Station for HS2.  I'm still not convinced that HS2 will actually generate the expected economic gains for the regions; I understand a recent left-leaning think tank report suggested that London would gain the biggest benefit from the new infrastructure.  Still there is little doubting that the project will go ahead and be built if the amount of hoarding surrounding the areas of new development are anything to go by.

I delved passed this area and found another canal, heading out of the centre.  There were some different views of the City Centre (see extra), and well as interesting buildings like the Bond Warehouse (left of the main shot), but I was taken by this couple walking hand in hand towards the University campus in the distance.
