Weathered door

A more leisurely morning with a stroll into town just because that’s what we do on a Saturday morning. Had a coffee and picked up some papers, calling in at the local library to return and pick up books. We also took the hangers and plastic wrapping back to the dry cleaners.

Grotty sort of morning. The weather app said 6-7% chance of rain. We got that damp muzzling stuff that’s no use to man nor beast. Had the annual flutter on the National it no luck this time. My choices finished but not in the top 4.

Today’s blip is of one of the door’s into the building that used to be the main post office in town. It’s lain empty for many, many years, in fact the post office is now it it’s second location since leaving this site. What a waste of a good building. Surely there must be a use for it? It’s opposite the main entrance to the shopping mall.

I like the detailed interest on the doors, peeling paint, rust, textures, all that. This was one of the tips I learned on a photography course at Lyme Regis a couple of years ago and it’s stood me in good stead since.

Tonight we went to an evening of Music and Laughter in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust and Libra at the Boughton Monchelsea Village Hall. This is the fourth such event we’ve been to each April. Great fun and music provided mainly by people who play at the Stilebridge Folk Club I attend.

Turned out to be an amazingly productive night on the raffle. Of the 8 prizes our table won 5, Susan and I won 4 of them between us. We had to ask to redraw, but we kept the wine and chocolates. At the same event last year we won the star prize - a meal for two at the Stilebridge pub. The organisers will be banning us from buying any tickets next year. Now, what we’re my national lottery numbers again?
