Sonoma County Airport

I'd say an airport is a pretty common sort of place but the Sonoma county one is definitely an airport seen from a different point of view. We were there this morning to pick up our friends Marc and Teri who flew here from Denver to visit for a couple of days.

Marc reminded us when we picked them up  that it took us thirty hours to get to them in Denver last year on the train, and it took them a mere three hours to get to us from Denver. Not only that but the Sonoma County airport has all of two gates and three check in counters and even a rather good restaurant with an outdoor patio next to the runway.

No dining on the patio for us since we're back to the dispiriting drizzle again, so we took them to lunch at Handline in Sebastopol where we got caught up over fish tacos and ceviche.

Dana and Jim joined us for dinner, a rather thrown together affair since OilMan decided that we should go to the Trail House for a beer before dinner. Teri and I had what was described as a white wine blend. We felt that ordering white wine in a beer and bicycle repair place was enough of a transgression that neither of us asked what was in the blend. It wasn't stellar but we should have known....

More company for dinner tomorrow as Jerry and Mary, our friends who are rebuilding their house will be joining us. We 're all old backpacking buddies who are well past our backpacking days but it will be fun to get together...I hope Mary, who wasn't married to Jerry back then won't be bored with the stories of our amazing exploits....
