Petaluma River

The weather improved today so we decided on the Petaluma option with Marc and Teri. We crossed the Petaluma River which is looking pretty murky after all the rain. The town of Petaluma is trying to restore this area with walkways and restaurant patios whilst still maintaining the old time feeling of grain elevators and brick buildings. It has become a favorite suburb of millennials because of its relative proximity to San Francisco.

We went to the Seed Bank, a store which sells seeds and used to be housed in an old bank building. The bank, though kind of fun was cavernous and difficult to maintain, so they have moved down the street to a smaller place in one of the brick buildings in my picture.

We had lunch at Della Fattoria...still a favorite of ours, even though they too have moved, expanding their restaurant from the original bakery into a huge space next door. The decor is an interesting combination of warehouse and glittering crystal chandeliers*, and the food is strictly farm to table.

We went next door to the original bakery* and bought our favorite pumpkin seed bread for dinner. Marc wandered over to the dessert counter and came back with a bag of desserts.

On to the Cottage Garden Nursery which is always meticulously maintained...gravel raked, plants beautifully displayed and an interesting array of 'garden art'. Teri wasn't able to buy anything at the nursery, but the packages of seeds will probably fit under her seat even on the small plane back to Denver tomorrow.

They haven't stayed nearly long enough but Marc is helping their son outfit a camping van in which he plans to spend a year or so traveling the country, and he has a deadline. WE hope they come back soon. We always have a good time with them....

I will try to catch up on comments tomorrow as I sit with my legs up, having had skin cancers removed from both of them. I'm becoming disgruntled about having to have this done twice a year, but I suppose I should be counting my blessings that it's really quite a minor inconvenience.
