We returned to the Upper Gorge at Arico to do the easier, slabby routes at the start of the section, and I led a 4a so I was happy.

The grading varies wildly and some sections aren't in the guide yet, but we collected the list of newer routes from the climbing shop. I'm okay on some of the 5a routes, but on some of that grade I'm hopeless... but it's great fun trying!

My knees and elbows haven't been so bruised and bashed since I first began climbing, but I don't mind about that, and then back to the hotel in time for a quick swim.
