The Edge of the Wold

Our neighbours were preparing for a test firing of their rocket at dawn this morning. I was waiting for a collared dove to perch on the top, but I wasn't in luck.

We had some rain last night, and the allotment has blasted into life, seedlings are erupting from the ground and the magic peas have now wrapped their tendrils round the wires ready for lift off. At the office today there was an impressive shower with rain and hail that pounded the roof, one of those events where just crossing the car park you get soaked. When I got home to Arnside (12 miles away) a little later to take Gus out for his afternoon constitutional, there hadn't been a drop, though we have had a little since.

Now I'd better take Gus for his evening walk. He definitely can count, even when his second walk is late in the afternoon rather than lunchtime, he still expects a third walk in the evening. I'm leaving him at home now while I'm at work, he's getting a bit too stiff to be cramped in the back of the car all day, and he was refreshed and perky this afternoon for a long nap while I was out. There's a Gus back-blip coming shortly.
