Sticks and Sandwiches

We ventured forth on a "sandwich walk" today - the kind of walk that keeps us out long enough to need lunch. With photo, water and lunch stops, it came out to five hours. Just over 18 km.

It was a beautiful day - too nice. The forecast had given 19 degrees and "cloudy" so we left sun hats at home. In the event, we could have put them to good use! Likewise we didn't don shorts, and that turned out to be a poor idea.

We met just one group of Ramblers, a pretty peaceful outing considering it is  a Public Holiday here. Nell was unleashed for all but the first and final 700m and the crossing with the rambling group.  We are so lucky here, the walking is just amazing. We did also meet the group of Limousin Ladies featured in today's Extra.

Our lunch was made from the keto "Bread" rolls that I experimented with yesterday. They are good! If I was given one and not told what they were, I swear I could not distinguish them from real bread. A little dry-ish, perhaps but only in the same way that a wholemeal roll can be so. They did prove to be very nourishing and fortified us well for the second half of our walk.

There was supposed to be a picnic site here  it was marked on the map but is actually on the far side of the river Gartempe and so we had to perch on this log for lunch. We didn't stop for long as the sun was too powerful.
